Disappointed!

I expected a greater variety of delicious recipes in this book (for some reason!) Suzanne Somers had Dr. Schwarzbein in some of her books and I guess I expected really tasty, low carb recipes. So many of these recipes are just not all that great! And rice is not low carb; some recipes have 20-30 or more carbs per serving. I guess I just expected better from this cookbook.

Great cook book!

I love this cookbook! The recipes are easy to follow. They call for many of the same ingredients (which makes it super easy to shop for a week) and yet each recipe has its own distinct flavor!

We have already lost weight after 2 weeks on this program. I was shocked that my pizza, lasagna loving kids LOVE the dinners! They already have favorites that they are asking me to repeat!
As an added bonus, they are helping me cook and learning alot about nutrition and carbs/sugars.

The only reason that I didn't give this 4 stars is that I was hoping that the recipes had entire meal suggestions (like the healing diet in the Swartzbein Principle) but I am getting better at putting things together as I go along.

Tremendous Book

This book is tremendous for anyone who is trying to change their eating habits. Instead of a diet book it's a book that aids you in preparing meals that are healthy. My whole family enjoys the various meals. And the best thing of all is that even I can (and do) use it.
I'd strongly recommend it.

A little too dry for my taste

I was led to believe that this was a pretty simple cookbook that would help my wife with her weight control program. Instead, although it did contain receipts, it was written more like a doctorial thesis, only lacking volumnious footnotes to refer the reader to what the author was writing about. Thank you for giving me the chance to tell the world about it.

Healthy eating at its best!

I've made a number of recipes from this cookbook with great results. The beef stroganoff, chicken fajitas, enchiladas suizas and tomato soup with basil were all amazing! If you're trying to eat "real foods" and lower your carb intake, this is the book you need. I've also purchased the other Schwarzbein books and am looking forward to following her healthy eating plan. I've already lost 8 pounds just by preparing these meals and eating healthy foods during the day. These recipes will never make you feel like you're "dieting".
