Product Description
We are living in a time when worship has become a distinct priority for the Christian community. For years, the church has emphasized evangelism, teaching, fellowship, missions, and service while neglecting the very source of its power—worship.Enter His Courts with Praise, a course for small-group or individual study, consists of thirteen easy-to-understand sessions. Part One, Music in Worship, explores the purpose of music in worship, the way in which musical praise can express our relationship to God, the varieties of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and the role of instruments. Two sessions study contemporary praise music and a worship style that blends this newer music with more traditional forms. Part Two, The Arts in Worship, studies the physical and ceremonial settings of worship and the use in worship of drama and dance. A final session encourages reflection on the future of Christian worship.

The Alleluia worship series are seven courses on the subject of worship. The seven courses are divided up thirteen short and easy to understand classes or chapters. At the end of each session are review and reflection questions that really help with the whole process of thinking through worship and what we are doing as the people of God.
Enter His Courts with Praise: A Study of the Role of Music and the Arts in Worship is another work of excellence from Robert Webber. He provides a much needed mediating voice for the Church on this subject. Unlike the first three books in this series, this one is only divided up into two parts instead of 3. Part 1 explores music in worship and covers the purpose of music, the place of praise worship in music, instruments in worship and much more. Part 2 is about the arts in worship. This section explores ceremony, dance, drama, and more. I think this is an easy to use study series for a pastor or teacher to take the church or a class through. It would be ideal for small group study and discussion.

Dr. Robert Webber continues to be one of the most helpful voices in dealing with the Church's "worship wars." His idea of "Ancient-Future" worship makes complete sense in a post-modern culture. This study book, "Enter His Courts With Praise" is excellent for a weekly study for choir, praise band members, those designing liturgical arts, and other worship arts. Christian musicians sometimes need to remember that God is the focus of our worship and not their "performance." I know of no resource that gets at that issue more directly, Biblically and helpfully than this outstanding workbook.
